GPAINNOVA, one of the global leading group in electropolishing technologies and specializing in metal surface finishing solutions, will present at Global Industry 2022 its latest metal treatment solution, based on dry suspension. It consists in a new electrolyte that combines polymer particles and a moderator liquid, specially designed to improve the results of conventional dry electropolishing processes. It is recommended for the treatment of industrial parts with occluded areas, or for those that need to meet the highest standards of quality and tend to oxydize easily.
This and other GPAINNOVA electropolishing solutions will be available, from May 17th to 20th, at booth 6M30. Those visitors who wish can bring their own metal samples and polish them for free.
The main benefits of dry suspension
The dry suspension electrolytecombines polymeric particles and a moderator liquid, specially designed to improve the results of traditional dry electropolishing processes.
The dry suspension electrolyte overcomes some limitations of dry electropolishing. One of its most outstanding contributions is that it facilitates the transport of particles, helping them to flow better through cavities and narrow areas. When used in pieces with complex geometries, In this way, better results are obtained for parts with complex geometries. Another benefit is that the liquid, by acting as a lubricant, protects the metal surface during treatment, preventing oxidation. This benefit is specially useful for materials which tend to passivate easily during the process as Titanium and carbon steel alloys. To all this is added a simple and fast maintenance.
Dry suspension also prevents particles from sticking to the metal surface, avoiding pitting.
How does dry suspension work?
The dry suspension electrolyte has been developed to replace the air between solid particles with an electrically moderator liquid, which protects the metal surface from oxidation caused by the oxygen present in air during the process. The transfer of ions is carried out by solid particles, while the liquid modifies the behavior of the electrolyte. This becomes a fluid, thus helping to protect the surface of the part.
The new consumable enables higher current densities and facilitates the controlling process. Due to its chemical nature, it is formulated to obtain more homogeneous and smoother surfaces, avoiding the presence of common corrosion defects. With this, a smooth and shiny appearance is achieved for the machined pieces or parts.
The new dry suspension electrolyte is suitable for processes that demand the best surface finishes.
Other GPAINNOVA’s novelties for industrial polishing
Besides the dry suspension electrolyte, GPAINNOVA will also be showcasing at Global Industry a new electropolishing solution for punches and dies that, unlike other procedures, obtains exceptional results in terms of roughness, shine and homogeneity, without rounding the edges of the metal parts. This type of pieces fits perfectly in a specifically designed holder with a capacity of up to six units per cycle. DLyte PRO500 has a capacity for up to eight holders at a time, allowing to polish a total of 48 units per cycle, providing significant savings in terms of time and resources.
Finally, GPAINNOVA will also present a new electrolyte in gel format, designed for those metal parts that require a higher shine.
The most advanced electropolishing machines
Concerning the equipment to be exhibited by GPAINNOVA at Global Industry, the main highlight will be the DLyte eBlast (launched in November 2021), an electro-blasting system based on projected electropolishing. It’s designed to surface finish large or heavy parts, or with complex geometries which are difficult to polish by immersion or require a localized finishing, like welded areas. It’s suitable for blind holes, slots, occluded areas and inner channels.
DLyte eBlast was shorlisted as a finalist in the TCT Post-Processing Awards 2022 (the winner will be announced in June) and the Trophée Innovation of the 3D Print Lyon Exhibition 2022.
Another device to be shown is DLyte Desktop PRO, the first ultra-compact dry electropolishing device, selected in February 2022 as the Most Innovative Electropolishing Machine 2021 at the European Enterprise Awards. Due to its low price, its small dimensions and for not requiring a special pre-existing or compressed air installation, this device allows any company to automate its production.
The fair will also count on the DLyte PRO500, the most advanced and powerful dry electropolishing equipment for mass production. This equipement provides a high-quality and fully automated surface treatment for high value, delicate or complex parts, and with specific finishing requirements and high precision. It offers important technical advantages over other technologies, such as abrasive finishing, robotic scouring and polishing and mechanical brushing.
GPANNOVA’s booth will also host the DLyte 100I, a compact machine for low or medium production volumes. It grinds and polish steel, stainless-steel, cobalt chrome, nickel, titanium, carbon steel, aluminium and carbides. At last, the group will show its MURUA, the smallest machine in passive layer technology for precious metals.
