GPAINNOVA, the global leader company in dry electropolishing solutions for metals, medical devices and aquatic drones, bought POWER INNOTECH, a company focused on the development of innovative technologies within the power electronics field to improve energy efficiency in industrial systems and processes.
POWER INNOTECH offers services and products based on high-performance electronics. Its goal is to extrapolate to other fields some technologies which had just been used in sectors such as the aerospace industry or the electric car manufacturing; for example, Wide Band Gap Semiconductor Technologies (SiC & GaN) and the so-called planar inductive technologies, which improved the efficiency and miniaturization of high-power systems.
The use of this technology provides some environmental, economic and operational advantages in sectors that have a great industrial, social and strategic impact. It involves:
· High-power-efficiency systems and processes
· High-power-quality systems and processes
· High-power-density systems and processes
Creating synergies in industry and research
Thanks to the acquisition of POWER INNOTECH, GPAINNOVA will be able to create synergies between its polishing brands, DLyte and MURUA, and technologies allowing projects in the aquatic environment while guaranteeing people’s security, with GPASEABOTS. Likewise, the acquisition will promote new business lines in strategic sectors linked to sustainability, such as water treatment, power management in hybrid and electric vehicles and aerospace research.
According to Pau Sarsanedas, co-founder and CEO at GPAINNOVA, the acquisition of POWER INNOTECH provides «a microsystem that allows, effectively and quickly, the creation of new products, taking advantage of the accumulated know-how in several fields».
GPAINNOVA is a company born in 2013, based in Barcelona, Miami (Florida, USA), Hong Kong and Shenzhen (Mainland China) and specialized in surface metal finishing machinery, medical devices with RESPIRA and USV (Unmanned Surface Vehicles) with GPASEABOTS. It has a team of more than 120 professionals on staff and more than 35 engineers and had a turnover of 5.9 million euros in 2019. The company has been selected by Financial Times among the 1,000 Europe’s Fastest Growing Companies in 2020, ranking 76th.
POWER INNOTECH is a tech start-up created in 2017 by Vicent Sala, PhD in Electronic Engineering by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). Sala is the author of more than 40 technical papers and scientific publications, holds four patents and has directed and coordinated four doctoral theses related to power electronics. He also cumulates more than 20 years of experience in the fields of design, optimization and development of advanced power converters, based on the latest SiC and GaN technologies and multilevel topologies, among others.
